Jane Kealy, 78, a long time Tempe resident died April 19, 2003 from leukemia related causes.
A memorial service was held on April 22 in Eugene, Oregon. Kealy was born February 17, 1925 in Saginaw, Michigan. She married James Gerald Kealy of Chicago in 1948. She spent most of her life in Barrington, Illinois, and Tempe, Arizona, and moved to Eugene, Oregon in 1999.
Kealy worked for the Red Cross during WWII, and at the Chicago Sun Times newspaper. A lifelong learner, she received a master's degree in Art Education at the age of 60 while working at Arizona State University. Kealy worked at the Lisa Sette Gallery for a number of years. While volunteering for the Desert Botanical Garden, she started a landscaping business with friends. Her interests included gardening, painting and weaving.
Kealy is survived by Beth Kealy and Jack, Lindsey and Sanya Detweiler of Eugene, OR; Sarah Kealy Roberts and Jeff Roberts of Livermore, CA; Kate Kealy and Sean Watkins of Portland, OR; and Martha Kealy Barthell (Quinn). Kealy requested that memorials be made to Greenhill Human Society of Eugene, OR.
