Marion R. Winkler, passed away on April 25, 2003. Marion was born in Atchison, Kansas at his farm house on September 22, 1909. He graduated from the University of Kansas, where he majored in Electrical Engineering.
Shortly after graduation he married Gladys Tonn. He worked for several electronic firms in the east and developed many patents. In 1950 Marion moved from Chicago to Phoenix with Motorola. He was an active member of the Western Saddle Club in the 1950's.
He then lived in Tucson for twelve years before returning to Phoenix in 1974. Marion was active in the Lutheran Historical Society and authored and/or published several books and a newsletter on Lutheran church polity.
Marion is survived by his wife Gladys of Phoenix, daughter Barbara Skutsch of Tucson, sons William of Scottsdale and James of Henderson, NV, eight grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 am on Wednesday, April 30, 2003, with Services at 11:00 am at Church of the Holy Cross, Lutheran 3110 N. Hayden Rd. Scottsdale.
Interment to follow at Green Acres Cemetery, 401 N. Hayden Rd. Scottsdale.
Memorials may be made to the Church.
