Larry Lee Ratcliff, born June 7, 1939 to Wilbur and Ruth Ratcliff died Dec. 19, 2003.
He was born in Indiana, and was raised on a farm and learned mechanics. He soon turned his love for mechanics toward stock car racing for a short time before marrying his high school sweetheart, Emma Lucas June 25, 9157. He then served his country in the military and belonged to the North Patchogue NY Fire Department and the NY Ambulance Service for several years before moving to the White Mountains of Arizona.
Upon arriving in the White Mountains Larry became a member of the Pinetop Volunteer Fire Department and the White Mountain Sheriff's Posse while working as a mechanic at the McNary Saw Mill. Larry also worked for various logging companies in the White Mountains as well as being a mechanic for the Navajo County Roads Department.
In 1976, he purchased and founded the E Bar L Angus Ranch in Snowflake, where he raised his children and grandchildren in the ethics of family ranching. Larry was a respected father, rancher and member of the community. Larry was also a long time member of the "Arizona Cattleman's Association" and the Navajo County Cattleman's Association.
Larry is survived by his loving wife, Emma; one sister, three children; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren, who will continue to operate E bar L Family Ranch in Snowflake.
A viewing will be held from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 23 at Owens Mortuary in Show Low. A memorial service will be held at a later date to be announced at the E bar L Ranch.
