Doris Louise Sullivan, 71, died at her home in Show Low Dec. 20, 2003.
She was born July 28, 1932 in Garibaldi, Oregon to Leo and Mary Gilman. Times were difficult as she was born during the depression. She was a minister's daughter, which meant they moved around Oregon, starting churches here and there. Doris attended one year of college at Southern California College.
At 19, she met and married a handsome military man, Roy Sullivan. They were married June 14, 1952 and lived in Salem, Oregon where she was a homemaker and worked as a sales clerk. Roy and Doris eventually became ordained ministers, and in 1975, they moved to Canyon Day, to work in the Assembly of God Church. They later moved to McNary, where they pastored the Assembly of God Church for 16 years.
Doris is survived by her children, Randy (Diane) Sullivan of St. Johns, Kathy (Michael) Lacapa of Taylor, and Karen (Ken) Ables of Taylor. She also leaves behind seven grandchildren; Scott Ables, Richard Ables, Daniel Lacapa, Rochelle Lacapa, Brian Sullivan and Diedra Sullivan.
She was preceded in death by her husband Roy Feb. 3, 1999.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Dec. 27 at the Canyon Day Assembly of God Church. A viewing will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 26 at Owens Mortuary in Show Low. Internment will be in the McNary Cemetery.
