Luise Halverson, 55, died July 1, 2003 in Lakeside.
She was born in Germany. Luis graduated from school there and enrolled in a cooking school. She became a wonderful cook with spaetzle being her specialty. She was also famous for her cakes, and flower arrangements, which she usually gave away. Luise was always interested in giving to others. While in Germany she also trained in massage therapy, which in Germany is a highly respected position.
She then moved to the United States when she was 24. Luise was a very nurturing person always giving of herself, involved in community service and especially in service for her church. She was very active in Calvary Chapel of the White Mountains, and involved in Calvary Chapel Clown's for Christ and also active in the youth crisis hot line ministry. Luise was a wonderful homemaker who enjoyed decorating, gardening and especially enjoyed her grandchildren.
Luise is survived by her husband, Thane B. Halverson; two daughters, Heidi (John) Lucas of Thatcher and Susan York of Mesa; one step-son, David (Michelle) Halverson, and one step-daughter Kara Halverson all of Show Low; one brother Klaus; two sisters, Sieglinde Hildegardt all of Germany; along with 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
