CARSON, Raymond L.


The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona - 07/11/2003 Raymond L. Carson, 70, of Eagar died July 5, 2003. He was born April 7, 1933 in Bernie, Missouri. He was awarded a Purple Heart during the Korean War. He later moved to Arizona where he worked for the Phoenix Police Department for four years before transferring to the Department of Public Safety. Affectionately known as the "Gray Fox," Carson served 22 years before retiring in 1986. Feeling God's calling, he embarked on a full-time preaching/singing ministry and eventually settled in the Eagar area where he pastored churches for the remainder of his life. He is survived by his wife, Vickie; brothers, Carl, Pete and Dawsey; six children, Greg, Darrell, Jenny, Vanessa, Monica and Sabrena; 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Services will be held Friday, July 11 at Faith Community Church, W. Orange Grove in Tucson. Visitation will be at 12 p.m. and funeral at 1 p.m. with a grave side ceremony following at East Lawn Cemetery, 5801 E. Grant Rd. in Tucson. A memorial service will be held July 19 at 2 p.m. at Life in Christ Fellowship Church on Central in Eagar. Jewkes Mortuary is in charge of arrangements
