Pete Egic - The body of a Morristown man was found in the desert Sunday. Pete Egic was found by Maricopa Sheriff’s Deputies about three miles from his abandoned vehicle. Egic was employed at the Anderson Mine, located ten miles from Morristown. Egic was last seen alive at 9:00 a.m. Sunday morning April 11.
He left the mine that morning to go into the desert on a prospecting trip. He was expected to return sometime Monday. Mr. Anderson of Phoenix, owner of the mine found that Egic had not returned Monday, but believing that he had simply planned to stay longer, Anderson returned to Phoenix. Friday, Anderson again went to the mine and found that Egic had not come back.
The Maricopa county Sheriff’s Office was notified and a search begun. Egic’s vehicle was found about 6 ½ miles south of Morristown. Deputies then tracked Egic and found the body beneath a clump of trees. At first it was assumed that Egic had died of over exposure. However, a later report indicated that death was due to a heart attack.
