Nellis - Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 31 at the Wickenburg Funeral Home for Alden Gilbert Nellis, resident of Wickenburg since 1969, who died January 26 in Community Hospital here. Mr. Nellis was born January 25, 1913 in Dexter, Kansas, and spent practically all of his life in that state, During World War II he was in the U.S. Navy, serving aboard an attack transport at Iwo Jima and in the Philippines. Upon returning from the service he did highway work in Kansas until retiring and moving here. He is survived by his wife Lucille and seven children, sons Eric Nellis at home; Alden G. Nellis, Jr. Irving, Tex.; Prof. Carl H. Nellis, Seattle, Wash.; Gene Nellis, Casper, Wyo.; Victor Nellis, serving in the Air Force in England; Mrs. Phyllis O’Clair, Phoenix; Mrs. Susan Townsend, Ft. Sill, Okla.; Mrs. Kathy Flynn, Wickenburg. Surviving also are his parents, Mr. & Mrs. Frank Nellis, Winfield, Kan.; one brother, Gilmer K. Nellis, Coffeyville, Kan.; and 10 grandchildren.
