Four people were killed and two children escaped serious injury in a 2-car, head-on crash at 5:40 p.m. last Friday, February 26 just east of the junction of Highways 71 and 60 east of Aguila.
Dead at the scene were Wm. B. Sparrazza, 20, Rochester, N.Y., and the passenger in his eastbound 1963 Pontiac, Dierdre Loranger, 27, Los Angeles. Her son, Timothy, 16 months and daughter Cleo Huot, 8 years old, were given emergency treatment at Community Hospital, and then taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital, Phoenix, where they were discharged Monday.
Killed in the westbound 1960 Corvair was the driver, John L. Washington, 16, and Michael Ray Quales, 15, both of Phoenix.
Highway Patrolman Russell Dunham of the Yarnell said his investigation led to the belief that the Washington car went out of control, went off the highway and in getting it back, it crossed the center line and met the other car head-on.
