Fayetta Hoopes, 82, died July 21, 2003 in Show Low of complications of lung cancer.
She was born March 22, 1921 in Phoenix to Fonnie Lee Monk and Jowell Flanagan. In 1939, she married Ernest Barksdale and they had a daughter Judy. They were later divorced. Fay worked during WWII installing control panels for bombers at Goodyear. When she was 30 she bought her first home as a single mother. She worked 17 years for Sears as a bookkeeper.
In 1967, she bought property which she developed into the Green Forest Trailer Park. Faye married Lynn (Slim) Hoopes in 1970, she stayed busy supporting Slim with the duties he had with the Elks Club, and she was a member of the Emblem Club. The most important role in her life was that of mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she loved cooking for them. The family loved her very much and will miss her greatly.
She is survived by her daughter Judy (Tommy) Stephenson; three granddaughters, Kelly (Kim) Hoskins of Shelley, Idaho, Karen (Shawn) Finch of Eagar and Kori (Justin) Grimmett of Blackfoot, Idaho; and seven-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Josephine Thompson of Show Low.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Slim; brother, Buddy Flanagan; and her parents.
A memorial service will be held Friday, July 25 at Owens Mortuary in Show Low.
