BOCKUS, Richard (Dick) Clarence


The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona - 08/22/2003 Richard Clarence Bockus, 59, went home suddenly to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Aug. 18, 2003. Dick, as he was know to his friends and loved ones, was born to Richard and Vera Bockus in North Platte, Neb. on Dec. 1, 1943. He met and married Carol Lynn, his wife of 36 years Jan. 28, 1967. From that union came four children and many happy memories. He was a Captain in the United States Air Force from 1968-1972. He was employed and retired from the United States Forest Service where he was a civil engineer. At the time of his death he was a sergeant with the Arizona Department of Corrections in Globe. Dick had many passions. He liked to read and loved military history. The Nebraska Cornhuskers were his favorite team and he loved football strategy. He also was active for a time with the Boy Scouts of America and Little League Football. Dick leaves behind, his wife, Carol, sons; David A. Bockus (Jeanette), Jonathan E Bockus and Michael J Bockus, all of Eagar; daughter, Joy A. Schwank (Matt), Lewiston, Idaho; his mother, Vera M. Bockus, River Falls, Wisconsin; sisters Beverly Bockus, Boston, Mass, Debra Kinkade (Brad), Roberts, Wisconsin; and a brother, Fred Bockus, Lincoln, Nebraska and 10 grand children. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard C. Bockus; and a grandson, Dallas R. Bockus. Services will be held at the First Assembly of God Church at 1418 E. 1st St. in Springerville, Saturday, Aug. 23 at 11 a.m. Visitation will precede the services at 10 a.m. Jewkes Mortuary, Springerville is in charge of arrangements.
