PILLOW, James Tolbert (JT)


The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona - 08/29/2003 James Tolbert "JT" Pillow, 69, died Aug. 26, 2003, in Alpine. He was born Aug. 26, 1939, in Beech Grove, Ky. JT worked for the U.S. Air Force for 30 years, retiring as chief master sergeant. He was a Vietnam veteran, a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8987 in Eagar, a member of American Legion China Post 01 for 19 years, member of Sabbar Temple Shrine in Tucson, a life member of the National Rifle Association, and a member of International Association of Bomb Technicians and Investigators. JT is survived by his companion of 13 years, Mary Ashworth Phelan, of Alpine; his son James (LuAnn) Tolbert Pillow Jr. of Vail, Ariz.; his daughter Kelly Ann (David) Page of Tucson; and three granddaughters, Amanda Elaine, Rebecca Mary, and Olivia Ann Pillow, all of Lakeside. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, 2003, at the Alpine School. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alpine Fire Department and the Alpine School. Owens Mortuary handled the arrangements.
