HOPPER, Mathew Brandon


The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona - 09/04/2003 Mathew Brandon Hopper, 18, died Aug. 31 in Tucson. He was born in San Diego, California and lived in a number of places across the country because his father was a career professional Marine. He has lived in Taylor for the past three years, and graduated from Snowflake High School, class of 2003 and began his freshman year at the University of Arizona, majoring in criminal justice. He wanted to be a U.S. Marshall or a lawyer. Among his many interests: a close circle of friends, a white 62 muscle truck, loud stereo systems, soccer, weight lifting and playing xbox. He had a special thing for each and every person and was close to his family and friends. He was a great kid. He had enjoyed working at Bashas' and later at Snowflake Tire. He is survived by his parents, Herb and Rose Hopper of Taylor; two brothers, Andrew of Tucson and Elliot of Taylor; his grandparents, Ernestine and Jose Barrera and Margaret Hopper all of California. Funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 6 at Our Lady of the Snow Catholic Church in Snowflake. A rosary at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 5 at the church. There will be visitations from 4-6 p.m. Friday at Owens Mortuary in Snowflake and from 9-10 a.m. Saturday at the church. Owens Mortuary of Snowflake is handling arrangements.
