HAUGHT, Tom B.


The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona - 09/04/2003 Tom B. Haught, 84, died Sept. 1, 2003 at his home in Woodruff. He was born in Ingram, Texas, here he attended school until moving to New Mexico. After school Tom served as a sergeant in the Army during WWII, after his service he returned home and worked as a cowboy on various Arizona ranches for about 20 years. He also worked for the State Highway Department on the maintenance crew for about 10 years. He married Elna Brinkerhoff Sept. 20, 1950 and together they had six children. They spent most of their years together in Woodruff, having moved there in 1961. They enjoyed dancing, reading and raising a garden together. Tom enjoyed taking care of their home and raising livestock. Tom is survived by his wife Elna of Woodruff; three sons, Gary (Debby) of Alaska, Kelly of Mesa, and Tom (Molli) of Clifton; four daughters, Merlene (Glenn) Eversen of Mesa, Kathryn (Ed) Fawcett of Taylor, Carla (Ron) Daniels of Ash Fork, Leslie (Michael) Pederson of Mesa; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Nettie Nelson of Texas and Marie Graham of New Mexico. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother; and two sisters. Funeral services were held Thursday, Sept. 4 at the Woodruff LDS Chapel The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Owens Mortuary of Holbrook handled the arrangements.
