Homer Owen Jarrel, 77, a resident of the Arizona Pioneer's Home died there Monday, Sept. 1.
Mr. Jarrel was born in Dunlow, West Virginia Nov. 3, 1925 to Allen and Dianna (Messer) Jarrel. He first moved to Arizona in 1943 and attended Prescott Senior High School. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force, discharged as a staff sergeant. He was a pressman for many newspapers, retiring from Newspaper Agency Corp., Salt Lake City, Utah in 1987 after 17 years. He also worked for the Arizona Republic during his long career.
He is survived by his loving wife of four years, Flora (Kane) Jarrel; daughters, Mary G. Trudy Koetzner and Jerrilyn Jean Guerreno, both of Nashville, Tennessee; sons, Homer Owen Jarrel, Jr. and James Everett Jarrel, both of Phoenix; brother and sister-in-law, John and Leota Jarrel of Prescott; sisters and brothers-in-law, Margie and Selwyn Harris of Eagar, and Margaret and A.C. Coombe of Phoenix; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life service was held Saturday, Sept. 6 at the Arizona Pioneers' Home with Rev. Selwyn Harris officiating. Interment will be in the Arizona Pioneers' Home Cemetery in Prescott.
The Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home of Prescott assisted the family with the arrangements.
