TUCKER,
Marie E.
The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona
Wednesday, April 30, 2003
Marie E. Tucker passed away April 25, 2003. She would have been 90 years old on the 6th of September. Not many people thought she was that old. Marie had a smile that reflected health, happiness and a young soul. The joy of her salvation shined in her and out to others. Marie was born in McHue (Batesville), Arkansas.
She married Henry Tucker on May 21, 1932. She was a housewife and a sales clerk at Sterling's before moving to Arizona in 1954. She was a sales clerk at Town Fashions on the Miracle Mile, then a sales clerk at Uptown Plaza. She worked as a cashier in the Maricopa County Treasurer's office until retirement.
No doubt there are many people who will not recall her name, but will remember her bright smile. Marie had a devotion to family, sense of humor, love of life, and a contagious laugh that encouraged everyone to see the joy in life.
Marie was preceded in death by her husband Henry, son Lawrence and daughter-in-law Minnie (Mike) Tucker. Three sisters and four brothers also preceded Marie in death. Sons Howard and Ed (Anita), ten grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, six great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews survive her.
She was called Mamaw and Aunt Marie; both took on a special meaning when addressed to her. She had been a member of North Phoenix Baptist Church since 1954.
A memorial service will be held at 9:00 a.m. on May 2, 2003 at the Upper Chapel of North Phoenix Baptist Church.
Flowers may be sent or a contribution in Marie's name to a charity of your choice.
