James (Jim) H. Ostrye of Mesa, AZ. died on April 18, 2003 after a long battle with cancer.
A memorial service will be held at St. Bridget's Church at 2213 N. Lindsay on Monday, April 28 at 11 a.m.

James (Jim) H. Ostrye, 81, of Mesa AZ died on April 18, 2003 after a long battle with cancer. He was born February 28, 1922 in Dunkirk, NY. He was a graduate of St. Mary's Academy and Long Island Agricultural & Technical Institute.
He was a veteran of WWII having served in the Pacific Theater. He worked in Dunkirk as manager in heavy industry and retired from Alleghany Ludlum Steel Corp. in 1982 when he moved to Mesa. He was an avid bowler and rose gardener and traveled extensively throughout the US after his retirement.
He was a communicant of St. Bridget's Church and a member of the St. Vincent DePaul Society, Apache Wells Beautification Committee and neighborhood watch association.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Dorothy R. Ostrye; his three sons: James of Severna Park, Maryland, Daniel of Yarmouth, Maine, and Thomas of Tulsa, Oklahoma; two sisters, Rita (Wayne) and Jane (Jelonek) and seven grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to: Hospice of the Valley, 2222 South Dobson, Ste. 401, Mesa, AZ 85202.
Plans for a memorial service at St. Bridget's Church will be announced.
Inurnment is planned for mid-June in Dunkirk, NY.
