Edward Thomas Carson, 83, died Sept. 4, 2003 in Payson.
Ed was born in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. The family moved to Regina from Estlin when he was 12 years old. Later he moved to Toronto where he lived until 1964 when he came to Arizona. He lived in Phoenix until 1992 when he came to Show Low. Ed became a Funeral Director while he lived in Toronto.
After moving to Arizona he worked as a funeral director at Lundburg Mortuary in Sun City and then at Grimshaw Mortuary in Phoenix where he retired in 1983 after many years of faithful service. He was a longtime member of the Show Low Lions Club. He enjoyed being involved in all of the activities and service projects of the Lions Club. Last year he was honored by Lions Club International when he was a Melvin Jones Fellow, the highest honor of Lions International.
Ed is survived by his wife, Nellie Carson of Show Low; three daughters, Peggy Spence Beatty of Nevada, Claudia (Joe) Hines of New River, and Girlene (Walter) Tuttle of Phoenix; one son, Paul Welch of New River; one sister, Eileen Reid of Sault Ste Marie, Ontario, Canada; 33 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Judith Hines.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Sept. 9 at 11 a.m. at Owens Mortuary in Show Low.
