The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona - 09/11/2003 Margaret (Maggie) Curry died peacefully Friday, Sept. 5, 2003 at Bannon Springs in Vernon. She was born May 3, 1912 in Altar, Belgium to Julius and Sylvia Cokel of Monmouth, Illinois. She married Donald Curry April 5, 1931 and he preceded her in death Aug. 23, 1973. She was happiest spending time with family and friends, working with her flowers, and baking her most delicious desserts, especially her pies. Her most enjoyable job was supervising and cooking in the cafeteria at Corpus Christi High School in Galesburg, Illinois. She is survived by her son Earl Curry of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Gerald (Janet) Clark of Lakeside, Mrs. Henry (Ruthie) Gullickson of Coburg, Oregon; brother, Victor Cokel; and sister Ruth Hawk of Monmouth, Illinois; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter Betty and grandson Donnie Wells. A mass will be offered celebrating her life at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Sept. 26 at 10 a.m. in Monmouth, Illinois. Burial will take place at St. Josephs Catholic Church Cemetery in Galesburg with Father Ronald Enderlin and Deacon William Clark officiating. A luncheon will be held at the KofC Hall, 200 S. Sunny Lane in Monmouth. In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation may be made to your local Hospice, or your own personal choice. Arrangements are under the direction of Fletcher's Mortuary.
