Percy Leon York, 64, died Sept. 11, 2003 in Lakeside.
He was born in Bowling Green, Kentucky in 1939. While growing up his family moved to Jeffersonville, Indiana and on to Chicago. He entered the Air Force at age 15, and served his country in the Korean War.
Percy worked in the auto body industry all of his life and owned several shops. He was well loved by everyone he met. Percy enjoyed Karaoke as a pastime and loved Ray Price songs. He also was a member of the Moose Lodge and will be missed by all.
Percy is survived by his companion of 20 years, Vicki Werner; two daughters, Elizabeth (Rick) Fifield of Gilbert and Marlo Leaver of Michigan; two sons, David Werner of Chandler, and Larry Werner of Chicago, Illinois; grandchildren Bradley and Ryan Mickelson; and his brothers Michael (Margie) York of Kingman and Daniel (Sharon) York of Illinois.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 20 at the Mesa City Cemetery 1212 N. Center Street.
Owens Mortuary of Show Low handled the arrangements.
