HIETT, Mary Elizabeth

The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona - 09/30/2003 Mary Elizabeth Hiett, 86, died Sept. 22, 2003 in Joseph City. Mrs. Hiett was born and raised in Harrisburg, Kentucky. She married Roy H. Hiett in Seattle, Washington and they lived in Anchorage, Alaska from 1942 until he died in an accident in 1945. She returned to Seattle and lived there for several years. She worked at various jobs to provide a living for her two young children. She lived in Texas and New Mexico before coming back to Arizona in 1999, and has lived in Joseph City ever since. She enjoyed the outdoors and used to hunt and fish. She had been a member of the Catholic Church. She has been ill for a lengthy period of time and her children have loved caring for her. She is survived by one son, John D. Hiett of Joseph City; one daughter, Ginger L. Chaffins of Bermuda Dunes, California; one grandson, Curt L. Chaffins of Indio, California; and two great-grandchildren. Private memorial services will be held by the family and close friends. Owens Mortuary of Holbrook handled arrangements.
