DOUGLAS (AP) - Ralph C. Cowan, a prominent McNeal rancher and former Arizona legislator, died Thursday at this home. He was 78.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Grace Methodist Church in Douglas.

Cowan served in both the state House and Senate for 18 years. His most recent term was in the Senate, from 1942-48.

Cowan was past president of the Arizona Cattle Growers and the Cochise-Graham Cattle Growers association.

Survivors include his wife, Mattie; three sons, two
sisters; seven grandchildren and three great
grandchildren.
