DEATH TAKES J.M. CARTER
Tempe - Joseph M. Carter, 89, a resident of Arizona for 68 years, died Friday in a Phoenix nursing home.
Private funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. tomorrow in the Carr Memorial Chapel. Interment will be in Double Butte Cemetery.
A Tempe resident since 1924, Mr Carter lived with his daughter, Mrs. Beth Clark, 25 W. Palmcroft.
At one time, Mr. Carter was the Railway Express agent in Tempe.
Born in Perry, Kan., Mr Carter first came to Walnut Grove where he was engaged in the cattle business. He then was a truck man for a mining company near Prescott. He lived in Globe, Kirkland and Phoenix before residing in Tempe.
Besides his daughter, Mr. Carter is survived by a brother, Edward, in Tulsa, Okla., two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
