The Arizona Republic 10/1/1947 Page 3 Funeral services for William Frederick Apel, 73-year-old retired armer and real estate operator, and long-time resident of Phoenix, who died Monday in Good Samaritan Hospital after a brief illness, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday from the Memory Chapel of the A. L. Moore and Sons Mortuary. The Rev. C. B. Holland, pastor of the Garfield Methodist Church will officiate. Interment will be in the Greenwood Memorial Park. A native of Floyd county, Ia., Mr. Apel came to Phoenix from the state in 1925. During his residence in Iowa, he had engaged in farming and had served eight years as mayor of Nora Springs. For many years following his arrival here he was engaged in real estate operations. Mr. Apel, who was a member ofthe Woodmen of the World, made his home at 1509 East Cherry Lynn drive. He is survived by his wife, Mary, three daughters, Mrs. J.F. Bernard, Mrs. E. C. Stephens, Mrs. R. L. Stanley, all of Phoenix; a son, Alfred H. Apel, also of Phoenix; a brother, Fred Apel, Rockford, Ia., and seven grandchildren.
