PORATH, Kenneth James


The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona - 10/14/2003 Kenneth James Porath, 74, died peacefully at his home in Vernon, Oct. 4, 2003. He was born Sept. 29, 1929 in Riverview, Michigan. He was retired from the Arizona Army National Guard. Ken was known for his generosity and affiliation with multiple clubs and organizations. He was a Bingo caller at the Show Low VFW and the Hohokum Casino. He gave service to his country in the US Army during the Korean War. Ken is survived by his daughter, Jeanette Wells of Tucson; two granddaughters, Michelle Sigafus, and Carol Kennedy of Tucson; one great granddaughter, Macy of Tucson; three brothers, John Porath, Florida of Elwood Porath, Michigan, and Joel Rivette. In addition, Ken had three stepchildren and grandchildren from his marriage to Sandra. Memorial Services will be held in Tucson at the VFW Hall, Craycroft and 29th St. at 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18. Ken loved to hear his granddaughters sing at their concerts. In remembrance of him, the family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Tucson Girls Chorus, 4020 E. River Rd., Tucson, AZ 85718. Jewkes Mortuary, Springerville, was in charge of arrangements.
