The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona - 10/17/2003 Michael John Murphy, 52, of Eagar, died Oct. 12, 2003 at the White Mountain Regional Medical Center in Springerville. Mike was born to Douglas and Joanne Murphy in Midland, Mich. Dec. 30, 1950. He married his wife of 24 years, Marylou Mata in 1978. They made their home in Eagar. He was employed as a planner at Tucson Electric Power, Springerville Generating Station. Mike had a passion for golf and played as often as opportunity would allow. He love hiking and camping, was involved in youth soccer, and had an avid interest in archeology, astronomy, bird watching and soft ball. He like people and was always there for anyone in need. He is survived by his wife Marylou; son; Dominick Murphy of Springerville; two daughters, Kristin Murphy, Gilbert and Tamara Murphy of Springerville; father Douglas Murphy, Midland, Michigan' sister, Julie Murphy, Mt. Morris, Michigan; and two brothers Jeff Murphy of San Diego, California, and Dave Murphy, Auburn, Michigan. Mike doted on his new granddaughter; Brylee Murphy. He was preceded in death by his mother Joanne Murphy. A Funeral Mass will be held for Mike Friday, Oct. 17, at St. Peter's Catholic Church at 11 a.m. Visitation was at Jewkes Mortuary, Wednesday, Oct 15. Jewkes Mortuary, Springerville is in charge of arrangements.
