John "Jack" D. Hemphill, 84, of Palm Desert, Calif., was received by the Lord on Feb. 22, 2010. He was born Aug. 9, 1925, to Mossel and Bertha Hemphill in Butler, Pa.
He joined the U.S. Navy in 1943 and proudly served his country in the South Pacific.
He owned and operated his own 2-way radio business in Phoenix for 20 years.
He served as President of the Phoenix Rotary and for many years did extensive work for the Salvation Army.
He married Dot Davis on May 18, 1972, in Santa Monica, Calif.
He is survived by his wife, Dot B. Hemphill; two sons, Wesley and John II; six grandchildren and one great grandchild.
He is greatly loved and will be missed.
Internment will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday, March 15, 2010, at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in Phoenix, Ariz.
