James Edward Williams, 81, of Show Low died Oct. 13, 2003.
He was born Jan. 19, 1922 in Moberly, Missouri. James served in the 8th Armored Infantry in Europe during WWII, reaching the rank of First Lt. Sept. 3, 1945. He married Caroline Kerr in Kansas City, Missouri. They had one son, Bruce Kerr Williams. They later divorced. On April 17, 1959 he married Mildred "Midge" Bryant in Huntington Park, California.
He lived in Arizona for 50 years and traveled throughout the state as a salesman, retiring in Show Low, where he was active on the Planning and Zoning Commission and the Senior Patrol.
James is survived by his son, Bruce (Louie) Williams; daughter, Cathy (Jim) Quam; three grandsons; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Midge of 44 years, Aug. 30, 2003.
Funeral services were held Friday, Oct. 17 at Owens Mortuary Chapel in Show Low.
