Show Low, Arizona - 11/03/2003
Bill "Mule" Pierce, 65, died Oct. 28, 2003 at home where he wished to spend his final days.
He was born May 29, 1938 in Warwick, Rhode Island. Bitten by the music bug early in life, he spent many years as a musician playing keyboard throughout the country. He also worked in the field of electronics for several years. Bill was a veteran and demonstrated his patriotism by supporting many local and national Veterans' organizations.
In 2001 he realized a long-term dream to participate in the "Run to the Wall" and "Rolling Thunder." He was an avid motorcyclist and political advocate for motorcyclist's rights and was active in many riding organizations including the MMA and ABATE. Bill loved to explore all parts of the country and particularly enjoyed areas of historical value and great natural beauty which he strived to preserve.
Bill is survived by his wife Robin Whitlock; his son, Stephen Castro; daughters, Deborah Halsey and Karen Pietropaoli; six grandchildren; and a brother James E. Pierce.
A memorial benefit will be held Nov. 9 at The Branding Iron Steakhouse in Show Low.
Owens Mortuary of Show Low handled the arrangements.
