Pedro Romero, 91, died Nov. 1, 2003 at Navapache Regional Medical Center.
He was born and raised in Reserve, New Mexico, when he was 17 he moved to Springerville. He married Mercedes Garcia and together they raised their family in Springerville. They always enjoyed family reunions and being together. Pedro worked for various construction companies, building and repairing highways.
During his last 20 years of construction Pedro worked at First National Bank, retiring in his late 70s. He had a sharp mind. He loved to dance, fish, hunt and sports. He also enjoyed building onto the house, working outside and going to yard sales, as well as visiting with his friends.
He is survived by five daughters, Ramona Benton of Phoenix, Clyda Osborne of Taylor, Aurelia Stann of Springerville, V. Kaplan of Show Low, and Angell Laud-Winston of Snowflake; 10 grandchildren, Janet Silvas, Sloan Cunningham, Robbin Mann, Leonard Osborne, Sheila Chavez, Gary Kaplan, Carole Kaplan, Sherri Leigh Kaplan, Don Winston and Elizabeth Lattin; 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He as preceded in death by his wife Mercedes; one son Pedro Jr.; one sister, Rosie; and two brothers Manuel and Nago.
