The Arizona Republic 3/6/2010 Page B7 Ralph Updike, 85 of Sun City, passed away on Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at his home with his family at his side. He leaves his wife of 62 years, Betty Joyce (Brill) Updike; his daughter, Sandra Matthews; his son, Douglas R Updike; grandchildren Matthew and Kristen Updike; and many close friends. He was born in Newcaslte, Wyoming on Dec 15, 1924. He served for three years in the U.S. Army. Following his service he owned and operated Ralph Updike Oil Well Servicing Company; the Valley Lodge resort motel in Carmel Valley, California; and served two terms as the mayor of Newcastle, Wyoming. A graveside service will be held on Mon., March 8 at 11AM at Sunland Memorial Park in Sun City. Visitation will be held one hour prior.
