HORAK, Gregory (Bingo) Eugene


The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona - 12/05/2003 Gregory "Bingo" Horak, 59, of Alpine, left this world to be with His Savior, Nov. 29, 2003 at his home in Alpine. Greg was born Dec. 12, 1943. He was an electrician since the age of six when he started in the family business with his father. Greg worked in different cities including Chicago, Tucson, and San Diego. He enjoyed fishing, rock hunting, dancing and talking to people. He loved his animals, including his many birds and his dogs, Honey, Bear and Lady Bug. He served in the United States Marines during the Vietnam era. Greg suffered with his illness for a long time, but always retained his humor and made people laugh. He drew friends to himself with his wit and charm and those who knew him will miss him. He had a strong faith in Jesus Christ and expressed it in his love for his family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Janie Heiserman Horak of Alpine; sons, John (Margie) of Chicago, David (Kazuyo) of Chicago, and Chris of Tucson; step-son, Eddie Vargas; daughter Carri of San Diego; and step-daughter, Jennifer; mother, Ruthe L. Horak of Chicago; sisters, Candace (Charles) of Houston, Texas, and Andrea (Ron) of Chicago. He had four grandchildren. His father, John Horak Sr. preceded him in death. Grave side services will be held at the Alpine Cemetery at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 5 with a memorial service to follow at the Baptist Church in Alpine at 12:30 p.m. Jewkes Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
