William Fields .
William "Joe" Fields, 94, of Flagstaff, died Monday, March 8, 2010.
Mr. Fields was born Nov. 2, 1915 in Phoenix, to Joseph and Sarah (McCullough) Fields, who had emigrated to America from Ireland. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the South Pacific, the Philippines and Japan. He was a lifetime member of the Elks Club and enjoyed gardening, hunting and fishing. He was very proud of learning to fly and owning an airplane.
Mr. Fields is survived by his sons, Fredrick (Irmgard) Fields and Richard Fields; sisters Viola Pappick and Anna Chambers; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Elks Lodge BPOE No. 499, 2101 N. San Francisco St., in Flagstaff. Burial will be Monday at 1 p.m. Monday at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N. Cave Creek Road, in Phoenix.
