Edward Joseph Heilig, 62, died in Tucson Jan. 4, 2004.
Eddie was born and raised in Buffalo, New York. He joined the US Marine Corps. After moving to Arizona he met Jan who he married in 1982. Eddie liked boating, hunting, and the outdoors. He was a twice-past Exalted Ruler of the B.P.O.E. No. 2090. The Elk's was the love of his life. He was a member of the White Mountain Sheriff's Posse, and also a member of many other fraternal organizations. Eddie loved life and loved people. He brought a lot of joy to many people and he will be greatly missed.
Eddie is survived by his wife, Jan of Show Low; two sons, Joseph (Beverly) Heilig of Dayton, Texas, Bud (Bonnie) Heilig of Tucson; four daughters, Linda (Mark) Dickerson of Tucson, Lonette (Ballis) of Tucson, Jinine (Gordan) Morgan of Wixom, Michigan, Denise (Kevin) Smith of Tucson; two brothers, William Heilig of Tucson, Frank (Donna) Heilig of Michigan; one sister Peggy (Dave) Sheridan of West Seneca, New York; 14 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. His parents and one son Kelly Bailey preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Jan. 10 at 2 p.m. at the White Mountain Bible Church. A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 9 at Owens Mortuary in Show Low. Internment will be in the Show Low Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family wishes donations be made to Hospice Mountain View Care Center of Tucson, 1313 W. Magee Rd., Tucson, AZ 85704 (520) 797-2600.
