The Arizona Republic 3/5/2010 Thompson, Helen M. loving and faithful wife of George E. Thompson met her Lord peacefully on Feb. 26, 2010 after a busy and fruitful life of 88 years. Helen was born in Siloam Springs, Arkansas of parents Walter and Georgia Goforth. At an early age she became a licensed beautician in Springfield, Mo. Early in WWII she became a base telephone operator at the Houston Army base. Helen moved to Chandler, AZ as bookkeeper and accountant at the Roosevelt Water District until she met and married George Thompson. Helen acted as a volunteer treasurer for the First United Methodist Church in Mesa for the next 1-2 years. She also was treasurer of the Bel Aire Mobile Home Park. Helen is survived by husband George Thompson; daughter Judy Gurzi (husband Frank); son Jim Thompson (wife Margaret); son Greg Thompson; grandchildren Bryan Barlow, Christina Hoffman, David Thompson & Mike Thompson and 12 great-grand children. Services will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Mesa at 11:00 am March 5, 2010. Arrangements by Meldrum Mortuary
