George A. Whiteley, pastor of the Mountain View Christian Church of Wickenburg, died Monday, May 3, 1993, at Wickenburg. He was 65.
He was born July 13, 1927, at Akron, Ohio, and had lived in Arizona seven years moving here from California.
He was a World War II veteran. He graduated from the Fuller Theological Seminary of Pasadena, Calif., with a master of arts degree in theology at the age of 60. He was ordained into the ministry in 1990 by Pastor John Stone of the 1st Christian Church of Sun City. Prior to entering the ministry he had retired from the California Department of Corrections in Sacramento.
He is survived by his wife of 13 years, Joan, of Wickenburg; sons Robert Vaught of California and Kenneth Vaught of New Mexico; daughter Sandra Ellis of California; stepsons Jeff Gordon of Germany and Barry Gordon of California; brothers Al and Ron Vaught of Maui, Hawaii; aunt Margaret Johnson of Ohio; niece Sherri Conroy of Cottonwood; and three granddaughters.
Services will be held Friday, May 7, 1993, at 2 p.m. at Frey Funeral Home. An additional memorial service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 9, 1993, at the 1st Christian Church of Sun City, 14001 Thunderbird Blvd., Sun City.
