Rachael R. Penix, 87, of Glendale, AZ, passed away on Friday, March 12, 2010 at the Hospice of the Valley Sun City PCU, in Peoria. She was preceded in death by her husband Norman E. Penix (U.S. Army), son Brian S. Penix, father Stephan B. Kibiloski, mother Emeline (Herman) Kibiloski, brother Richard R. Kibiloski, and sisters Martha Mae Kellett, Mary Ann Hannon and Alice Joyce Kibiloski (infant).
Rachael was born in Bronson, Michigan and graduated from Bronson High School in 1939. During WWII she moved to California where she worked as a secretary for Consolidated Voultee in Long Beach, CA. Upon returning to Bronson she married Norman on December 16, 1945, and began raising a family. In 1962, Rachael, Norman and their children moved to Tucson, Arizona, where she lived for 35 years. In 1997, Rachael once again moved to California, but returned to Arizona in 2006 and settled in Glendale to be near children and grandchildren.
She was a member of St. Helen Catholic Church in Glendale and was a founding member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seaton Catholic Church in Tucson. Rachael is survived by her children: Timothy K. Penix, Holly A. Penix, Kerry A. Penix, Heather M. Penix, Todd A. Penix and Ivy M. Penix. Also surviving: daughter-in-law Nancy J. Penix, grandchildren: Stephanie L. Penix, Norman R. Penix, and Rachael K. Penix; sister Barbara J. Scott, brothers Ronald S. Kibiloski (Gladys) and Richard L. Kibiloski (Debbie), and brother-in-law James Hannon.
A visitation will be held on Thursday March 18th from 11am-1pm with a Catholic prayer service to follow at 1pm at Heritage Funeral Chapel 6830 W. Thunderbird Rd. Peoria, AZ. Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA on Wednesday April 7th at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Hospice of the Valley Sun City PCU.
