The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona - 03/16/2010 Marie Joyce Brown Hamblin Johnston, 77, was born in Brawley, Calif., March 12, 1933, to E.B. "Joe" and Elva Marie Lorntzen Brown. They moved to Eagar and settled in Milligan Valley where she grew up with her family until they moved to town, where she attended school in Round Valley. She married Karol Lee Hamblin and they had five children and Morris Maloney became part of the family in 1971. Karol died in 1981 of leukemia. In 1983, she met and married John Johnston. They had 27 good years together, seven children were added to the family. Marie was a homemaker, she loved to quilt and read stories to her grandchildren. She was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was preceded in death by her first husband Karol; daughter Holly and her parents. She leaves 13 children Rynn (Kathy), Leana (Daryl), Romelle (Danny), Marlene (Brent), Morris (Angie), Sandra, Johnny, Roy (Jennifer), Danny, Billy Jo (Landon), Steven and Sean; 33 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; six sisters Fay Claycomb, Nedra LeSueur, Gladys Pena, Linda Carrillo, Teri Cluff and Rachel Finch; three brothers Bowen and Jerry, and foster brother Clinton Stroud. Services were held Saturday, March 13, at the Amity Building, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on School Bus Road in Eagar, viewing was held at Burnham's Mortuary in Eagar.
