The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona - 01/20/2004 Carmen Chavez Moya, 80, Springerville, died Dec. 30, 2003 at the White Mountain Medical Center in Springerville. Carmen was born March 8, 1923 in Springerville. Her passion was her flower garden. She loved her plants and liked experimenting with new ones. She also enjoyed making blankets for her family when she was not tending her flowers. She is survived by her sons; Clifford, Roger, Vidal, Jr, and Arnold, daughters; Linda and Priscilla, brothers; Abelino Chavez and Johnny Chavez, Sr.; sisters Martina Baca and Irene Moya. She had 16 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vidal M. Moya, Sr. Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan 3, at 11 a.m. at St Peter's Catholic Church in Springerville. Interment will be in the Springerville Cemetery. Jewkes Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
