MCCARTY, Rex Lester


The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona - 01/20/2004 Rex Lester McCarty, 80, of Chevelon Retreat Heber, died Jan. 3, 2004 in Heber. He was born Dec. 13, 1923 in San Pedro, California. Rex was a World War II Veteran who joined the U.S. Army the day after Pearl Harbor. He served in Europe and North Africa. After the war he joined the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America. At the time of his death, he was an honorary retiree with 58 years and three months of total time. Rex was never in a bad mood, and was always a positive person. Rex is survived by his children, Frank, Ed, Matt, and Margaret; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary. Private services will be held at Owens Mortuary in Show Low. "Your children want to thank you Dad for all the things you've done throughout your life like making sure we had what was needed and for working so hard to make ends meet for us. For giving us guidance and just for the honor we've had of knowing the finest father that we've had the privilege of calling dad."
