Bessie "Betty" Frances Davis Whiting, 91, longtime resident of Holbrook, died Jan. 22, 2004 in Scottsdale.
Betty was born Aug. 25, 1912 in Walcott, Kansas, to Roy and Rachel Davis. She moved to Holbrook in 1933, where she and her husband, Leonard Lepper resided. She served in every auxiliary of the LDS Church, including her final years in Holbrook as a leader in the church single adult program with her husband, Arthur C. Whiting.
She is survived by her daughter, Armina Lepper Bentley of Lakewood, Colorado; and her grandsons, John R. Bentley, Dekalb, III, Gale W. Bentley of Alpine, Utah; and granddaughters, Susan Goldie, Kennasaw, George, Diane Hofeins of Salt Lake City, Utah, Karen Kuchaarek of Little Rock, Arkansas; and fifteen grandchildren. She is also mother to Irene Lewis of Mesa; A. Milton "Mickey" Whiting of Phoenix, Annette W. Farr, Norman C. Whiting both of Gilbert, Gary L. Whiting, deceased and Alice Fraser, foster daughter, Valley Center, Kansas and grand and great-grandchildren.
A viewing will be held Friday, Jan. 30 at the Meldrum Mortuary in Mesa from 7-8 p.m., 52 North MacDonald. Visitation will be held Saturday, Jan. 31 at the LDS Chapel in Gilbert, 4524 East Guadalupe, at 8:15 a.m. Funeral services will follow at 9 a.m. in the same chapel.
Interment will be at the St. Johns, Arizona Cemetery at 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31.
