DEWITT, Kevin Ralph


The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona - 01/27/2004 Kevin Ralph DeWitt, 45, died Jan. 22, 2004 at his home in Holbrook. Kevin was born and raised in Holbrook where he lived most of his life. He attended Holbrook Elementary School and graduated from Holbrook High School with the class of 1976. He served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Porto Alege Brazil. After his mission he married Darolyn Fischer also of Holbrook in the Mesa Arizona Temple. They moved to Warrensburg, Missouri where he attended Central Missouri State University. He graduated Suma Cum Laude in 1988 with a degree in hotel-restaurant management. He worked for the Marriott Corporation for eight years, returning to Holbrook and for the past four years he has been teaching and coaching at the Joseph City High School. Kevin has always been an active member of the church. He had the privilege of serving as a counselor in four different Bishoprics. He enjoyed serving in the church in any capacity he was asked to serve. He loved teaching and coaching and was close to his peers and the youth. Kevin has battled cancer for the past four years and realized many miracles in his life. The family is grateful for the many family and friends and for the faith and prayers of so many in the community in Kevin's behalf throughout his illness. Kevin is survived by his wife, Darolyn of Holbrook; three daughters, Amy (Eric) Miller of Mesa, Nicole (Adam) Neat of Flagstaff, Lisa of Holbrook; four sons, Kevin Blain in the Philippines Tacloban Mission, Sean, Luke and Joel all of Hobrook; his parents, H. Keith and Marian DeWitt of Holbrook; three brothers, Michael K. (Charlene) of Henrietta, Oklahoma, Alan R. (Leisa) of Taylor, Scott (Tracy) of Lehi, Utah; one sister, Trenna (Albert) Hunt of Holbrook; one granddaughter; and grandparents, Fay and Lynn Stratton of Snowflake. He was preceded in death by infant twin daughters, Kaycie and Laurel. Funeral services were held Jan. 26 at the Holbrook Stake Center, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Owens Mortuary of Holbrook handled arrangements.
