BALLEJOS, Longie


The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona 01/30/2004 Longie Ballejos, 73, St. Johns, died Jan. 22, 2004 at his home in St. Johns. Longie was born July 2, 1930 in Quemado, New Mexico. His family moved to St. Johns when he was a young boy and he spent the remainder of his life in that city. He was married to Armira Chavez on Feb. 24, 1962 and together they raised a family of eight boys and seven girls. Longie liked to fish and hunt, but is probably best known for his dedication to Little League Baseball. He was employed with the City of St. Johns for many years. Longie's survivors include his wife, Armira Ballejos, St. Johns; sons Raymond, Show Low, Earnest, Tacoma, Washington, Longie Pat, Hill AFB, Utah, Louis, San Antonio, Texas, Stanley, St. Johns, Matthew, St. Johns, Eric, Show Low and Anthony, St. Johns; daughters Virginia, Bettendorf, Iowa, Dolores, St. Johns, Frances, Phoenix, Sandra, Las Vegas, Nevada, Christina, LeClaire, Iowa, Martha, Show Low, and Elouise, St. Johns. Also surviving him are brothers Phillip Ballejos, St. Johns and Louis Ballejos, Springerville; and a sister Rosie Anaya, Winslow. He had 41 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be Friday, Jan. 30 at 10 a.m at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in St. Johns. Jewkes Mortuary, St. Johns is in charge of arrangements.
