MORRISON, Anita Christy

The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona - 02/03/2004 Anita Christy Morrison, 77, died Monday, Jan. 19, 2004 after a long and courageous battle with ovarian cancer. Anita was born Feb. 8, 1926 in North Branch, Michigan, the youngest of 13 children. Her Romanian American father sold his farm, and at age 12 she moved with her family to Detroit. She graduated from Highland Park High School, and attended business school before following two brothers and her parents to California in 1944. She met and married Thomas F. Morrison, a native Californian, in 1947. They had three children, Thomas, Christy and Anita Marie. In 1965, Tom moved the family to Phoenix, where they resided until retiring to Show Low in 1989. Anita enjoyed a career in the banking industry before retiring and was very active in community service groups all her life. She is survived by her three children; three grandchildren, Michelle, Scott (Yana) and Kristin, and two great-grandchildren, Elora and Arwen. Anita will be greatly missed by all of those who lives she has touched. A memorial gathering will be held Saturday, Feb. 7 at 2 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, 241 McNeil in the Fellowship Hall.
