ORTIZ, Socorro (Cora)

Arizona Silver Belt, Globe, Arizona Wednesday, Mar 17th, 2010 Socorro "Cora" J. Ortiz, 78 of Miami, Ariz., passed away on Thursday, March 11, 2010. She was a 1950 graduate of Miami High School and a Certified Cosmetologist. Cora was a woman of deep faith in God, was married for 57 years and raised a wonderful family. She had a charming quick wit and wonderful sense of humor. She was a caring devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, who loved to travel, going from coast to coast. She always had time to have lunch with the girls and go shopping. She had a natural green thumb; there was not a plant that didn't thrive in her gentle care. She was a firm believer in mind over matter and "take it one day at a time." Thanks, Mom, you made it! She was preceded in death by her parents, Marto and Cecilia Jimenez; and her sister, Mary Jimenez. Socorro "Cora" J. Ortiz leaves behind in loving memory her husband of 57 years, Ben Y. Ortiz; sons, Alfred and Benny Ortiz; daughters, Bernice, Denise and Cecilia Ortiz; three grandsons, Tim, Alfred Jr. and Dominic; four great-grandchildren, Stephen, Bailey, Alec and Alexis; and nephew, Alvino Jimenez The family wishes to thank her longtime caregiver and friend, Genea, for all her tender care. Rosary will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 18, 2010 at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament in Miami Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, March 18, 2010, at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament, Miami.
