Jean was born on June 8th, 1923 in Safford. She is the daughter of Stanley Leroy and Elizabeth Crandall. Jean and her husband, Paul Smith have been married for 70 years, living the last 40 years in Pima. 

Jean grew up in Safford, where she met Paul, the love her life. They eloped on May 17, 1940 and were later sealed, for time and all eternity in the Mesa Arizona Temple on June 29, 1945. She was active in the L.D.S. Church, serving as President of the Relief Society in Buckeye, Arizona; and also as Primary President in Tolleson, Arizona. 

Jean’s passion was her family. She dedicated her life to her husband, children and grand children.
