The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona - 02/10/2004 Emma May O'Donnal Tenney Emma Tenney, 92, of St. Johns, died Feb. 1, 2004 at Winslow. She was born Jan. 21, 1912 in Garcia, Chihuahua, Mexico. Her family later located to Utah and then to Arizona when she was 12 years old. She married John Walters Tenney April 24, 1931. She was active in church activities. She taught Sunbeams and was a Primary teacher for 50 years. She loved quilting, cooking and gardening. Her survivors include sons John D. (Pam) Tenney, St. Johns; and daughters Christine (Jake) Greening, Henderson, Nevada, Reta Benhardt, W. Jordan, Utah, Nell (Al Rugg, Phoenix, and Janett (Jay) Russell, Las Vegas, Nevada; and sisters Lillie Byers and Letha, both of California. Preceding her in death are her husband John Walters Tenney and two sons, Frank and Reed Tenney. Services for Emma Tenney were held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Duncan Ward, Duncan, Saturday, Feb. 7, 2004 at 11 a.m. Interment will take place at the Virden Cemetery in Virden, N. Mex. Jewkes Mortuary, St. Johns handled the arrangements.
