The Arizona Republic 3/18/2010 Townsend, Kerry Dean, 62, of Phx, AZ, passed away February 22, 2010 in Tucson, AZ. He was born in Wendell, ID to Harold M. and Alma L. (Warren) Townsend. He was raised in CO Springs, CO. Kerry is survived by his beloved wife, Trish; father, Harold M; children: Douglas, Edward (Towns), Eric, Tom (Marci) and Scott (Christine), (Johnson); grandchildren: Kyle, Craig, Dylan, Ian (Johnson), Eddy, Aaron and Jacob (Towns); Brother, Harold E. (Deanne) of MI; Sister, Frances F. (Marion) Moore of CA; Sister-in-law's: Pam Richardson & Kathy (Duane) Beamis. Kerry is predeceased by his Mother, Alma (2003) and his brother, Victor (2009). Family was so important to Kerry, he loved spending time in Flagstaff with Trish, his father, children, grandchildren & puppies. Kerry was a veteran of the US Air Force from 1966 - 1970 initially stationed at Norton Air Force Base as a Staff Sergeant - Flight Engineer Specialist & was in the US Air Force Reserve until 1981. Kerry worked for Simula Safety Systems, Phx as a commercial maintenance engineer. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, R/C airplanes & motorcycling. He was an active member of the Academy of Model Aeronautics and Speed World R/C Club. Even though our hearts miss him so, we know he is rejoicing in heaven. The memorial service will be held Friday, March 19 at 2:00 p.m. at the US National Memorial Cemetery, 23029 N. Cave Creek Rd, Phx. Everyone is invited to a celebration of life immediately after the services at 3244 E. Wickieup Lane, Phx, AZ.
