Bentivegna, Sam C., Formerly of Waukegan. Visitation for Sam C. Bentivegna, 89, will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services at 1:00 p.m. Monday, March 22, 2010, at Marsh Funeral Home, 305 N. Cemetery Road, Gurnee, IL. Entombment will be private.
Born February 21, 1921, in Waukegan, he passed away on March 15, 2010, at Pueblo Norte in Scottsdale, Arizona. Prior to his retirement from Fansteel in North Chicago, Sam served in the Army as a Warrant Officer during World War II and also in the Korean Conflict. Additionally, he tended bar at many Lake County establishments, was a lifelong Cubs fan and enjoyed reading Western Novels. He moved to Mesa, Arizona in 1988.
He is survived by his children, William (Carol) Bentivegna, Katherine (Thomas) Moore, and Michael (Tammy) Bentivegna; grandchildren, Lauren (Peter) Holland, Jennifer (Jeffrey) Semonis, Lindsay Bentivegna, Tim (Randi) Moore, Joshua Wollman, and Dustin Bentivegna; great-grandchildren, Zane Penny and Emily Moore; brothers, Joseph, Andrew, Nick, James and Thomas; sisters Antoinette (Ann) Samz, Ann Binning, and Sadie Abney; and many nieces and nephews. Sam was preceded in death by his wife Alice (Luke); wife Doris (Briggs); parents, Nunzio (Nick) and Sadie; stepmother, Rosalie; brother Frank; and sister, Marie Brehm.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of the Legacy House in Mesa, Arizona, the staff of Hospice of Arizona, Pueblo Norte Inpatient Unit, and especially to Kathy Wojcik for their love and attention to Sam during this last year. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made "In memory of Sam Bentivegna" to Hospice of Arizona, c/o Ms. Connie Frisby, 19820 N. 7th Ave., Suite #130, Phoenix, AZ 85021.
