Jack Merrill Reidhead, 78, died March 5, 2004 at his home in Heber.
He was born Sept. 22, 1925, in Snowflake to Austin and Rose Mary Merrill Reidhead. He was raised and worked on his parents' ranch near Aripine, and at a dude ranch. He attended school in Aripine, Heber and Snowflake, graduating from Snowflake High School. He spent his life working in the forest industry and worked for Reid Smith Trucking for nearly 40 years. He enjoyed forest recreation, spending many hours fishing, camping, and hunting. He was most at home when riding a horse or fishing.
He served in the Army during WWII in Europe and received an honorable discharge. Shortly thereafter, he married June Ballard March 27, 1949, and enjoyed nearly 55 years together. For 28 years he was a member of American Legion Post 86 in Overgaard. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and was a member of the High Priests' Quorum. He served in many different positions.
He is survived by his wife June; children, Charles (Renee) Reidhead of Tempe, Nancy Noonan of Glendale, and Lanny (Janet) Reidhead of Overgaard. Also living are sister June (Smith) Reidhead of Heber; along with 15 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Austin "Dutch" Reidhead and Rose Mary Merrill, and sister Helen (Bert) Webb.
Services were held Thursday, March 11 at 1 p.m. at the LDS Chapel in Heber. Interment will be at the Snowflake Cemetery.
Owens Mortuary of Show Low handled arrangements.
